Matthew 5 (NIV)
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is
the kingdom of heaven.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and
falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven,
for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and
teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven,
but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in
the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that
of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter
the kingdom of heaven.
In this section Jesus is speaking in public. He only has time to make a few important points. He says 1) there's a heaven, 2) not everyone goes there, 3) it's a place where some are respected more than others, 4) the people who were running things on earth weren't doing the right thing.Luke 2
This section is interesting because it says the angels were able to move between earth and heaven.
